Abstract
In this article we discuss some of the issues concerning the possible
relationships between art and mathematics. In particular, we address
the questions of whether or not mathematics is art – or at least
contains a significant artistic component – and how one might use
mathematics and mathematical artifacts in art. We illustrate with
a number of examples taken from our own work (the examples appear
in color on the CD-ROM).
