Abstract
Our mind tends to recognize shapes and forms in the world. Geometric
shapes persist in Art and Architecture from Prehistory to Modern
Age. Here we discuss some examples of this ``persistence'' (sinusoids,
catenaries, helicoids). Examples are chosen from Mesopotamian,
Gothic, Islamic, Baroque and Modern Art and Architecture.
