The festival presents an annual reel of juried short films exploring mathematical themes. It will include films, videos and animations that have been created for educational, corporate and artistic purposes, or just for fun. Styles will include mathematical visualizations, conceptual animations, mathematical stories and fairy-tales, art based on mathematical rules, and exciting explanations and entertainment. The jury for this year's Bridges Short Film Festival was made up of Sabetta Matsumoto, Henry Segerman, Susan Gerofsky and Bianca Violet.

The Short Film Festival reel will be screened twice as part of Family Day, beginning at 2:00pm and at 4:45pm. The 4:45pm screening will also include an introduction and Q&A with the creators of the films who are attending the conference.

A gallery of this year's short films can be found on the Bridges Gallery site.
