MATHRIX

8:00pm – 8:45pm

Mathrix is a structure designed by Håkan Lidbo, Per-Olov Jernberg and Johan Eriksson that is both a complex modular synthesizer and a strategic board game for four players. The musical instrument consists of three separate synthesizers, programmed and controlled with eight wooden blocks per player. The goal of the game is to take the opponents' pieces but since there are four players, pacts and diplomacy becomes a part of the game. The sound engine is designed by Johan Ericsson, who is working on his PhD in software modular synthesis at the University in Bristol. The interaction is programmed by Per-Olov Jernberg, a developer at Spotify and freelance creative technologist.

This event is sponsored by Rumtiden Idea Lab, founded by Håkan Lidbo. In this lab experts from different disciplines explore innovative aspects of music, art, science, society and technology, and create interactive art for museums, events and public places.nd controlled with eight wooden blocks per player. VARITÉ VELOCIPED

9:00pm – 9:45pm

Since its inception in 2001, Varité Velociped has stunned audiences worldwide with the inventive musicality, humor, artistry, surprise and fantasy of their three-man show. Erik Petersen plays Brahms’ Hungarian dance on an amplified, old, rusty (but well-tuned!) bicycle. He creates the sound of a whole Caribbean steel band on his own. His violin breaks in front of the audience, but he finds his own way of playing Czardas. Svante Drake, beatboxmaster of Sweden, gives you grooves, patterns and sound effects you wouldn’t imagine were possible. And he makes you laugh! Bengt Johansson is a colorful singer and musician whose acting is priceless. His shanty-singing sailor ends up in a hilarious storm. Twenty-eight wine glasses on a tray create a heavenly sound. And the old skis... and the snakes... and the musical underwear!

This event is sponsored by Varité Velociped.
