2018 Events

Every Bridges conference includes a number of events other than paper presentations. Please click on one of the events below to learn more about it.

Museum Night

The museums will be open for the Bridges conference participants and docents will be available to explain exhibits. Light meals and beer and wine will be available for purchase at the museum's restaurants.

Performing Arts Evening

Museum Director, Daniel Wetterskog, invites Bridges to enjoy an evening at the Swedish Museum of Performing Arts (Scenkonstmuseet), a premier experience center devoted to the arts of dance, music and theatre, and one of Europe's leading museums for performance.

Formal Music Night

Bridges 2018's Music Night features two performances: MATHRIX, which is a structure designed by Håkan Lidbo, Per-Olov Jernberg and Johan Eriksson; and VARITÉ VELOCIPED, which has stunned audiences worldwide with the inventive musicality, humor, artistry, surprise and fantasy of their three-man show.

Family Day

An afternoon of community activities, games, workshops, interactive demonstrations, presentations, performances, and art exhibitions for children and adults, free and open to all.

Short Film Festival

The festival presents an annual reel of juried short films exploring mathematical themes. The program is taking place on July 28, between 2-4 pm in the Family Day program. It will include films, videos and animations that have been created for educational, corporate and artistic purposes, or just for fun. Styles will include mathematical visualizations, conceptual animations, mathematical stories and fairytales, art based on mathematical rules, and exciting explanations and entertainment. Informal Music Night

Each year we gather for an evening during the Bridges conference for the best variety music show in the math world. Informal Music night will also include a short exhibition of clothing, accessories, and jewelry centered on mathematical themes in the inaugural Bridges Math + Art Fashion Show.

Excursion

This year’s excursion will include a boat ride through the beautiful Stockholm Archipelago, a visit to Artipelag, a chance to explore Old Town Stockholm and purchase lunch, and a visit to the Nobel Museum.
