“Hyperbolic Klee”

also by Miodrag Sremcevic from LASP, University of Colorado at Boulder, Colorado

Digital print, 20" x 20", 2003.

Beautiful ideas and objects in mathematics sometimes also have aesthetically appealing visualization. This is a disguised uniform tessellation (4,4,4,6) of the hyperbolic plane whose structure was enriched by introducing an asymmetric motif in the fundamental region.

“Transparent”

also by Miodrag Sremcevic from LASP, University of Colorado at Boulder, Colorado

Digital print, 20" x 20", 2007.

This is one of realizations of the non-uniform order 2 tessellation of the hyperbolic plane corresponding to the vertex configuration (3,4,8,4).

“Hyperbolic Starfish”

Digital print, 20" x 20".

This picture is based on uniform (4,4,4,6) tessellation of hyperbolic plane represented in the Poincare Disk Model. The symmetry of the motif containing the yellow disk and the thin blue and red triangles is broken only by the black line.
