This is my interpretation of a great dodecahedron. It is a regular polyhedron
consisting of 12 regular pentagons joined along sides. All internal intersections
were eliminated.
Dr. Vladimir Bulatov, Independent Artist
"My artistic passions are purely mathematical images and sculptures, which express
a certain vision of forms and shapes, my interpretations of distance, transformations
and space. In my opinion, mathematics is not simply a profession, but rather
a way of thinking, a way of life. I have always been intrigued by the possibility
of showing the intrinsic richness of the mathematical world, whose charm and
harmony can really be appreciated by everyone.
The process of making my sculptures starts from mathematical idea. I build
a computer model to represent the idea in 3D world. Applying custom algorithms
gives the model nice body and organic look. The selected model is saved in special
3D file format which is sent to printing company who build the real piece. On
the final stage I hand polish pieces and burnish them in tumbler with stainless
steel shot."
