"This series of sculptures explores the use of modular form in the creation
of geometric structures. Form was generated through the hands-on
manipulation of paper through cutting, scoring and folding, and the use of
Autocad software to refine the flat layouts of models and ensure perfect
symmetry. Emphasis was placed on the transformation of a flat sheet into a
three dimensional structure. Influences include growth patterns observed in
nature, whereby seemingly complex structures are in fact derived through
the
repetition of simple, identical components. This idea of simple complexity
is something I strive for; to achieve the greatest result through the most
simple solution.
