Jacqui Carey

Braidmaker. Summercourt, Ridgeway, Ottery St Mary, Devon, EX11 1DT, England.

" Jacqui Carey is renowned as a maker of Kumihimo, Japanese braidmaking. Her work explores the creative potential of technique whilst respecting the traditional. She delights in discovering new structures, patterns and materials in which to reinterpret this ancient craft, whilst maintaining its aesthetics and sense of continuity. She particularly enjoys using the medium to make connections between seemingly diverse subjects. Mathematics has been an integral part of Jacqui's life, and her passion for the subject filters into her work, in both a practical and inspirational role."
