Abstract
The symbol π as a denotation for the constant ratio of a circle's
circumference to its diameter appears in the 17th century. In
addition to mathematical applications, this number has been an
inspiration to artists and poets for a long time. In this paper I
present several texts, including poems by M. Keith, a number of
Russian poets and myself, that represent a wide range of poetic
possibilities inspired by the number π and its mathematical properties.
